American bleeding-heart (SciiFii)

The American bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba yorkensis) is a species of bleeding-heart pigeon (Gallicolumba) that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, and open woodlands across North America to help boost biodiversity. The American bleeding-heart is a medium-sized pigeon, growing to be up to about 10 to 11 inches (25.2 to 28.8 cm) in length and weighing around 4.7 ounces (133 grams). The American bleeding-heart is the species in which the "blood" feature is most pronounced, with the reddish hue extending down the belly, furthering the illusion of blood having run down the bird's breast. On its upper surfaces, the American bleeding-heart is slate grey in color, but because it is iridescent, it can appear to be purple, royal blue, or bottle-green, and the apparent color varies with lighting conditions. On their wings are black bands while their belly and under wing areas are buff or chestnut. As in most pigeons, there is little sexual dimorphism; males tend to be larger and have a more pronounced red patch, while in the females it is slightly duller. The body shape is typical of the genus, with a round body, a short tail and long legs. The American bleeding-hearts feed primarily on seeds, berries and grubs. They are shy and secretive, and very quiet, and rarely leave the ground except when nesting. Unlike the other bleeding-hearts, they usually lay around 3-7 eggs in each clutch. The conservation status of the American bleeding-heart is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the American bleeding-heart's wide range and its tolerance to many of the human activities.
