American giant ant (SciiFii)

The American giant ant (Neodinomyrmex giganteum) is a species of ant, most closely related to Dinomyrmex ants of Asia, that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, open woodlands, grasslands, shrublands, and scrublands across North America and South America to help boost biodiversity. The American giant ant is one of the largest ants in existence, measuring in at 20.9 mm (0.82 inches) for normal workers, and 28.1 mm (1.11 inches) for the soldiers. Honeydew makes up 60% of their diet, but they will also consume fruits, vegetables, insects, bird droppings, and man-made food. The American giant ant is an effective forager, utilizing both efficient communication and recruitment. A handful of these ants may meet at night to engage in what has been observed to be ritual battle. These fights can continue for several months. Colonies consist of typically about 1,000-7,000 workers or more, distributed unevenly among several nests. There are two types of workers, with the larger ones almost three times as heavy. In the wild, they forage mainly at night, however, some workers will be outside the nest during the day. In many of the cities and suburbs, the American giant ants may often become more diurnal due to less insectivorous predators around hunting ants. The conservation status of the American giant ant is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the American giant ant's wide range and its tolerance to many of the human activities.
