American leafbird (SciiFii)

The American leafbird (Chloropsis californianus) is a species of leafbird (Chloropseidae) that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, and open woodlands across North America and South America to help boost biodiversity. The closest living relative of the American leafbird is the orange-bellied leafbird (Chloropsis hardwickii). The American leafbird is brightly coloured with a reddish-orange belly, a pale green back, a blue tail and flight feathers, and a black and blue patch over its throat and chest. It has a long, curved beak. The American leafbird feeds on insects, spiders and nectar. American leafbirds make their nests from roots and fibers which are suspended from the edges of twigs at the end of a tree branch. The South American populations do not migrate, but North American populations migrate to South America for the Winter, only to migrate back north when spring arrives. The conservation status of the American leafbird is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the American leafbird's wide range and its tolerance to many of the human activities.
