American long-legged goshawk (SciiFii)

The American long-legged goshawk (Longupedibuteo megatriorchia) is a species of bird of prey, most closely related to the birds of prey of the genus Accipiter, despite resembling Doria's goshawk (Megatriorchis doriae) of New Guinea, that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, and open woodlands across North America and South America to help boost biodiversity. At up to 69 centimeters long, the American long-legged goshawk is among the biggest hawks in the broad sense. It is greyish-brown with a black-barred crown and upperparts, whitish underparts, a black streak behind the eye, dark brown irises, a blackish bill and greenish-yellow legs. The sexes are similar, although the female is slightly larger than the male. Its diet consists mainly of birds, including several species of American birds-of-paradise (Americaparadisaeidae), some American bowerbird (Neoptilonorhynchinae) species, cotingids, manakins, finches, small rodents, and other small animals. As with other birds of prey, American long-legged goshawks are diurnal, solitary hunters and prefer to spend their lives alone except during the breeding seasons. Compared with its relatives, the American long-legged goshawks are primarily ground-dwellers and prefer to hunt by foot rather than flying, but they will fly when approached by larger animals. The conservation status of the American long-legged goshawk is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts and the American long-legged goshawk's wide range.
