Domestic ruffed lemur (SciiFii)

An example breed, the Virginian Piebald.

The domestic ruffed lemur (Varecia olympius) is a species of ruffed lemur (Varecia), most closely related to the black-and-white ruffed lemur (Varecia variegata) and the red ruffed lemur (Varecia rubra), that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii due to the demand for more kinds of animals as common household pets. Unlike wild ruffed lemur species, however, the domestic ruffed lemurs are much more adaptable to a wider range of habitats and can feed on a wider assortment of insects and plants. There are more than 200 breeds of domestic ruffed lemurs that are bred across the world, ranging from about the size of a small rabbit to the largest breeds that are about the size of an medium-sized dog. The domestic ruffed lemur is one of the most popular primates as pets, due to being easy to keep, train, and care for, along with being largely tame and not too destructive to man-made objects, as well as being able to breed extremely well in captivity.
