The golbat (Megazurochirus pokevus) is a species of bat that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii due to demands for real life Pokémon-like animals from Pokémon fans, and unlike most bat species, golbats are legal as pets due to not carrying any diseases/viruses, as well as being easy to care for compared with most bats. However, due to careless pet owners releases golbats to the wilderness, golbats can now be found throughout Eurasia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and South America in almost every single habitat. Compared to most other microbats, the golbat is relatively large, weighing 75–96 grams and possessing a wingspan of 78.7–83.1 cm. The golbat is an insectivore, consuming a diverse array of insects, particularly night-flying insects, but especially beetles. Many of the beetles it consumes are serious agricultural pests, including cucumber beetles. The golbats are nocturnal, foraging for prey at night and roosting in sheltered areas during the day such as caves, tunnels, tree cavities, and human structures. Their breeding season is in the fall, shortly before their annual hibernation. After hibernation ends in the spring, females form maternity colonies for giving birth to young. Oftentimes only one offspring is produced per litter, though twins are common in the Eastern US. Lifespans of 6.5 years are considered average. The conservation status of the golbat is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the golbat's wide range, and its tolerance to most of human activities, including being able to flourish and adapt to life in the cities and suburbs.
