The mogwai (Neonanotherium domesticus), also known as the domestic pocket lemur, is a species of lemur, most closely related to the mouse lemurs (Microcebus), that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii due to demands for more types of exotic pets. The SciiFii's mogwais were created as inspired by the fictional mogwais from the Warnwer Bros' Gremlins films, and were created thanks to Gremlins fans commissioning SciiFii to make real life versions of mogwais without any negative side effects. The SciiFii's mogwais are very small lemurs, growing to be about the size of a large brown rat (Rattus norvegicus), averaging about 500 grams (17 oz). Like indris and unlike most lemurs, the mogwais have short, stumpy tails. The mogwais have extremely dexterous hands and feet that allow them to grip onto objects and manipulate them, similarly to more advanced primates such as apes (including humans). Mogwais are omnivorous; their diets are diverse and include insect secretions, arthropods, snails, slugs, worms, smaller vertebrates, raw and cooked meat, gum, fruits, vegetables, tubers, bulbs, shoots, flowers, nectar, leaves, buds, and even man-made food. Mogwais are either solitary or social animals, depending on an individual. Mogwais are able to reproduce very fast and frequently compared with most primates, more akin to a mouse than a typical lemur in terms of reproduction, making them very suitable for commercializing pet mogwais. They are very vocal animals and can make a wide range of high-pitched vocalizations, including chirps, whistles, purring, and shrieks. The mogwais are able to mimic human speech, thanks to their highly-developed vocal chords similarly to those of parrots, allowing them to repeat the words they hear around them, which is best described as sounding like a parrot's speech without a squawking tone. The mogwais are among the smartest of the non-sapient prosimian primates, being about as smart as several parrot species. Unlike in pop culture, mogwais do not get harmed by bright lights nor do they multiply with water, and they don't become gremlins if they eat after midnight. The mogwais are very popular household pets and are found throughout the pet stores and homes across the world, however, mogwais have been deliberately or accidentally released into the wilderness, establishing feral breeding populations in California, Florida, Japan, China, and Madagascar, where they are, by all accounts, thriving. Despite this, the mogwais do not seem to be invasive as they're under control from native predators in the mogwais' nonnative range.
