A psyduck (Neornithorhynchus pokevus) is a species of platypus that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii due to demands for real life Pokémon-like animals from Pokémon fans. However, due to pet releases by pet owners who were careless, the psyducks have ever since established feral breeding populations throughout Australia, Eurasia, Africa, North America, and South America. The psyduck is a small amphibious animal that grows to be about the same size as its relative, the common platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), and like them, it usually spends most of its time swimming in search for food/territories. It is an omnivore, unlike common platypuses, however, allowing it to feed on annelid worms, insect larvae, freshwater shrimp, freshwater yabby (crayfish/crawdad), carrion, freshwater plants (including algae), short grasses, and even man-made foods made from wheats (including bread). Due to its more generalized diet and its somewhat slower metabolism than common platypuses of Australia, it only has to eat around 15% of its own body weight and can spend up to around 6-8 hours a day looking for food. The psyduck's spurs on its feet lack the venom of its relative, instead, it is slightly larger and is mainly used for defense against predators. Like the common platypus, the psyduck is also known for having a sense of electroreception: they locate their prey and/or vegetation in part by detecting electric fields generated by muscular contractions. The psyducks's electroreception is among the most sensitive of any monotreme. Like all natural monotremes, the female psyduck is an egg-laying mammal, and usually lays around 25 eggs at a time. The conservation status of the psyduck is Least Concern due to successful conservation efforts, the psyduck's wide range, and its tolerance to most of human activities, including pollution, allowing it to flourish and adapt to life in the cities and suburban areas, including park lakes, etc.
