Winged lemur

The winged lemur (Digitupterypithecus chiromimoides), also known as the true flying lemur, is a species of lemur that originally did not exist, but has since been created by SciiFii and introduced throughout the rainforests, wetlands, forests, and open woodlands across Madagascar to help boost biodiversity. The closest living relative of the winged lemur is the ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta). The winged lemur is equipped with large, membranous wings attached to its arms, connected by three cartilaginous rods (which are often mistaken for the "sixth", "seventh", and "eighth finger"), that allow it to take short flights, although, due to its wings being short, it primarily glides due to being a poor flier as it isn't as specialized in flying as bats, birds, or pterosaurs. It has a prominently black face with two proportionately large, green eyes, and its fur is mostly grey-and-white with several black stripes. Other color markings and variations are also known. The winged lemur has two very wide, long, bat-like ears on its head that give it excellent hearing. It has a monkey-like tail, which is usually striped with black-and-white stripes. It is also very quick and agile. The winged lemur has a very acute sense of smell, as it is able to detect food at a moderate distance. Winged lemurs love food and are not above taking it directly out of the hands of any person who might be holding some at the time. The primary sources of food for the winged lemur includes fruits, leaves, insects, and eggs. Many winged lemurs like to be petted like domestic dogs or cats. When a winged lemur is frightened or is threatened, it raises its back and hisses, much like a domestic cat. Due to the demand for winged lemurs as pets, as many people are fans of the Avatar series (which featured the fictional lemurs of the same name from the franchise, which is the inspiration for Sciifii's winged lemurs), the domestic winged lemur subspecies (Digitupterypithecus chiromimoides domesticus) were created, coming in more than 200 breeds, and have since been sold as common household pets. Unlike wild winged lemurs, which are nocturnal animals, the domestic winged lemurs are diurnal to make them suitable pets for many people.
